Vehicle Damage Paint technician Apprentice - Level 3

A Vehicle Damage Paint Technician apprenticeship trains individuals to prepare, spray, and finish damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition. The program typically lasts 30-36 months and is a Level 3 standard.

Some of the day to day duties include:

  • Ensuring all parts have been stripped from the vehicle in order for it to be painted
  • Sanding down relevant area and adjoining area for blending
  • Masking out areas to be treated
  • Etching and priming areas to be treated
  • Selecting matching and mixing colours using the colour palette
  • Spray painting panels or vehicle parts using a variety of techniques to ensure a factory standard finish.

MET (Mechanical, Electrical, Trim) technician Apprentice - Level 3

The role is to identify damaged mechanical and electrical components on a damaged car/light commercial vehicle, and remove and refit these components before and after body repair work has been carried out.

Some of the day to day duties include:

  • Assessing faults
  • Preparing job cards and assessment reports
  • Accessing and removing mechanical and electrical components
  • Removing and fitting non-structural body panels
  • Removing and re-installing mechanical and electrical systems
  • Vehicle valeting

Parts Administrator Apprentice - Level 3

  • The level 3 Vehicle Parts apprenticeship programme is a bespoke programme developed specifically to ensure that you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a Parts Advisor within the automotive industry.
  • On successful completion of this apprenticeship you will be awarded the L3 customer service specialist apprenticeship standard as well as nationally accredited and recognised unit certificates covering sales and vehicle parts.
  • This level 3 apprenticeship develops advanced skills, knowledge and behaviours allowing you to become an expert in the organisations products and services. You will be a referral point who provides specialist information which supports sales, customer service and service departments in achieving key objectives.
  • You will also be eligible to join the Institute of Customer Service as an individual member at a professional level.
  • Over the duration of 18 months, you will receive a combination of face to face workplace visits with specialist Skills Coaches, virtual classroom masterclass teaching seminars, workplace coaching and mentoring and online training and support.
